Guests gathered at Mottram Hall for a charity event organised by Leanne Brown, patron for children’s charity, Once Upon A Smile. The wife of footballer, Wes Brown, held the ladies luncheon after Wes’ friend Ben Cowgill, a trustee of the charity, brought it to her attention.

Attended by 100 ladies, including Coleen Rooney and Carla Kompany, the event raised £11,000 through donations of coveted designer items to re-sell from Leanne and her friends. There was also a chocolate box raffle and auction, complete with entertainment provided by Manchester boyband, The Mend, and singer Sam Burrows.

Leanne Brown said: ‘Once Upon Smile is an amazing charity that supports family bereavement and child bereavement support. It was down to the generosity and kindness of all my lovely friends who attended and supported me on this first and hopefully one of many events in the future. I just want to say a massive thanks to everyone involved and our sponsors Harvey Nichols and ChronoEdge, who kindly donated a beautiful diamond peace pendant as the main prize in the chocolate raffle!
