This October half term head down RHS Garden Rosemoor in Great Torrington, Devon for some fun-filled activities, and learn about the animals of the night such as bats, owls, mice and hedgehogs
Half term kicks off with Pumpkin Weekend (22–23 October) where you can carve your very own pumpkin lantern ready for Halloween (for a small charge of £1 per pumpkin). Visitors will also be able to see ‘Spook’, which was carved during Woodfest Weekend by chainsaw sculptor Dan Cordell in front of an admiring audience. There will be free wagon rides with Ben May’s two shire horses, and free face painting, too, from Devon Facepainting. There will also be a ‘Wildlife in the Spotlight’ event this weekend in the Plant Centre with representatives from Devon Wildlife Trust on hand to answer all your questions about how you can help wildlife in your garden. All week, there are fun family workshops using garden materials, together with a Pumpkin Trail around the garden. Families will be able to get engrossed with fun craft workshops each day such as fir-cone hedgehogs, willow woven spiders, autumn-leaf pictures, animal masks and a chance to learn the art of Japanese origami.

Pick up a trail from the Visitor Centre and explore the garden trying to find all the different type of pumpkin
22 & 23 October
Pumpkin Weekend
11am – 3pm
Get ready for Halloween by carving your own pumpkin at our lantern-making workshops with pumpkins supplied at £1 each. Free face painting by Devon Facepainting in the Peter Buckley Learning Centre. Free covered wagon rides in overflow car park.

Tuesday 2 – 4pm
Drop-in craft workshop for families in the Peter Buckley Learning Centre to learn the art of book folding. This session is suitable for anyone aged 8+.

Fir Cone Hedgehogs, Mice and Owls
