Rhubarb in all its glory was on the menu for the Leeds and District Market Gardeners’ Association Centenary Dinner and Dance at Rogerthorpe Manor.

More than 260 people celebrated this fine foodstuff, grown to precision in this unique part of Yorkshire, and the night included hard-fought food challenges such as best apple pie, best chutney, best wine and best use of rhubarb.

The annual cookery competition was well supported and the overall winner was Tom White.

Six of the now famous Rhubarb Triangle’s forced rhubarb growers attended the event.

Proceeds from the night will go to support the work of Wakefield Hospice.
