The national Love Architecture festival from the Royal Institute of British Architects hits Gloucestershire this June, with an amazing selection of talks, walks and tours in and around the county.
Celebrate the longest day of the year on Friday, June 21 at Woodchester Mansion’s first ever evening opening, with guided tours of this fascinating unfinished gothic masterpiece. A unique opportunity to see this amazing building in a different light – refreshments will be on sale, and the minibus will be running to take visitors down to the house between 6 and 9pm.
If you’re shopping in Cheltenham on Saturday, June 22, pop into Cheltenham’s Civic Society shop in Regent Arcade to find out more about the Civic Society movement as well as future developments planned for the town. Take the opportunity to have a free consultation with an RIBA chartered architect at the ‘Ask an Architect’ event taking place between 10am and 4pm. This is a fantastic chance to discuss needs and ideas on all aspects of design around the home including maximising space, creating extra storage, introducing energy and money saving solutions, as well as adding value to your home.

Experienced guides can tell you more about Llanthony Priory on June 23, 25, 27 and 29, one of the richest priories in England founded in 1136. There will also be guided walks of Gloucester’s churches, on June 24 and 26, where history has truly left its mark. Explore Gloucester’s Roman history on a ‘Roman Times Tour’ on Saturday, June 29, and discover the rich architectural heritage of Gloucester during the Roman occupation. Or, take in all of the above on a city tour, which start every day (apart from Sundays) from St Michael’s Tower at 11.30am.
