A spectacular fundraiser was held at Haigh Hall Hotel, Wigan, in aid of Love Support Unite Foundation, which is a charity based in Malawi.
This dynamic, grass roots group is changing lives every day with a unique model of sustainable education. They partner with communities in Malawi to create sustainable solutions to poverty and bring about lasting and measurable change.
The ball was attended by 160 and raised £5,525. Many local businesses donated raffle and auction prizes.
Organiser Katy Blackledge, aged 25, said: ‘I can’t believe the generosity of so many wonderful people who made the evening such an achievement.’ Katy, a teacher at a primary school in Wigan, spends many weeks of her school holidays out in Malawi volunteering for the charity. She will be returning this year to see the impact of the money raised.
