A sunny winter’s day greeted the students of the Boat Building Academy at Lyme Regis and their friends and family who turned out to celebrate the graduation of the Class of March 2013.
Eleven students launched eight boats built over the 38 weeks of the course, and though the weather forecast had been menacing, the boats went out under blue skies. The Mayor of Lyme Regis said a few words to the crowd of well wishers and champagne corks popped as the craft of all shapes and sizes - from sailing dinghies and speed boats to canoes and rowing boats - were launched one by one into the waters of Lyme Bay.
