Students put on the style when they turned out for the GEMS ball - a glamorous occasion organised by Manchester University’s Geology and Environment Students (GEMS) Society.Members of the organising committee chose a tasteful geological theme in keeping with their studies for their party room at the Macdonald Manchester Hotel and Spa.
Instead of name cards, there were personalised name slate rocks and tables were named after geological periods.
Several lecturers from the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences (SEAS) joined in the fun. After a drinks reception and a three-course meal, entertainment followed, including a DJ, dancing and picture slideshow.
