A stunning £500,000 was raised at the annual charity ball supporting the Marina Dalglish Appeal.

Lady Marina said she was delighted by the total, which goes towards the appeal’s pledge to donate £1.2million to fund a surgical robot for Liverpool’s Broadgreen Hospital.

Dhol drummers greeted 350 guests to the Indian-themed ball at Knowsley Hall before being entertained by the Swan Band, who flew in from Geneva.

Sir Kenny told guests: ‘Marina and I are always blown away by the magnificent generosity and commitment of our supporters. We would like to thank every single person who helped to make it a great success and we are very proud of our daughter, Lauren, who pulled everything together.’

MC and auctioneer Jonny Gould raised close to £350,000 from the auction prizes which included donations by Vincentius Bespoke, Selfridges and Givenchy Beauty. The first prize, a £6,000 voucher, was again donated the jeweller, Boodles, a long-time MDA supporter.
