Guests were greeted by a samba band and Brazilian dancers on arrival

A colourful Mardi Gras themed ball at Knowsley Hall has raised around £650,000 for the Marina Dalglish Appeal, a Merseyside based charity supporting cancer sufferers and their families, particularly those affected by prostate cancer.

Hosted by Marina Dalglish and her husband, Kenny, the ex-footballer and manager, 370 guests were greeted by a samba band and Brazilian dancers on arrival, before enjoying dinner followed by Rio Hotdogs at midnight and entertainment from the Swan Band, who flew in from Switzerland.

Marina Dalglish said: ‘Kenny and I never cease to be amazed at the generosity and commitment of our supporters who continue year after year to overwhelm us with their kindness. We would like to thank every single person who helped to make this year’s ball our best ever. I’m not sure how Lauren, who pulled everything together, is going to top it next year!’
