The children’s charity, Merseyside Wooden Spoon, one of 40 branches throughout the UK, held its 4th annual lunch at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool. Rugby players and their clubs support the charity, which helps to make an impact on the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.

The afternoon began with the presentation of a cheque for £700 to Michael Beddis from the Liverpool Lions Wheelchair Rugby League team. More than 200 guests were entertained by the Master of Ceremonies, Ray French, a former international in both rugby codes, Paul Wallace, former British and Irish Lions Rugby Union player, and comedian Pete Emmett.
