Ankle warmers sold like hot cakes & the shell tracksuits flew off the shelves! Reebok, New Balance, Nike and SergioTacchini were all the rage. That seems like a life time ago now, but for Alexandra Sports they are still serving the community as running, fitness and walking experts. Little did the founders realise the business would still be thriving 35 years on…

The business idea came when Bryon & Linda Newbery, keen sports enthusiasts, found it difficult to buy performance products. They wanted great products, expert advice & good customer service. You didn’t have the internet in those days and if you wanted to find a store, or research some products you couldn’t ask Google! Their sports included Judo, squash, tennis and a lot of running! They had a real passion for sport and life, always wanting to improve their health and fitness. Although they both had full time careers at the time they felt it would be great to open a sports shop.

Their children Dawn and Darren became involved early on helping out in the business, after school and at weekends….and so the family business was born. Fast forward 35 years and Alexandra Sports are renowned as the South’s leading running and fitness expert. Priding themselves on the ultimate customer service, with highly trained and experienced staff, catering for all the running and fitness enthusiasts. However they are not just a sports shop! With 35 years of knowledge and experience passed down through the business they have learnt a lot about feet over the years. Doctors, physio’s podiatrists and many more health professionals are recommending Alexandra Sports to their patients that have feet issues.
