Three years ago my partner and I turned one of the loveliest houses in the Somerset Levels, Langford Fivehead, into a gastronomic b&b. The property is situated between Taunton and Langport and set in seven glorious acres of garden, park, orchard and woodland.
Since early June new managers have stepped in – Rebecca and Olly Jackson; they have the best pedigree, having cut their teeth at the Crown and Castle in Orford and the New Yard Restaurant in Helston, Cornwall (where Olly was awarded five points by the Good Food Guide).
Olly specialises in serving local ingredients, imaginatively cooked. The hotel restaurant has been renamed The Langford and residents and non-residents are now welcome Tuesday to Saturday evenings.
