Generous guests attended a garden party and helped to raise around £13,500 to aid British servicemen and women who have been wounded doing their duty.

The event was organised by Graeme Barlow, of Barlow Trailers, at his home in Ulnes Walton, near Chorley, to support a former comrade called Darren Swift. Guests included actor Ricky Tomlinson.

Back in 1991, Graeme and Darren were serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps in Northern Ireland when their unit was bombed. Mr Swift lost both legs but since then he has been raising money for the charity, the Not Forgotten Association, which was founded in 1920 and provides support to approximately 12,000 wounded service personnel each year.
