The final countdown is on for the Beards Diamond Rush in aid of Maggie’s Cancer Care, Cheltenham. Taking place from 10am on Sunday April 29, thousands of bounty hunters are expected to descend on the streets of Cheltenham and Gloucestershire to try and bag one of the ten dazzling diamonds worth £2,500 each.

The diamonds, worth an eye watering total of £25,000 will be hidden in top secret locations across Gloucestershire and treasure seekers will go head to head to find the luxurious bounty. Each diamond will be a round, brilliant cut diamond and have all been kindly sourced and donated by Beards Jewellers to raise funds for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre, Cheltenham.

Beards Managing Director, Alex Rose, said: “We’re all extremely excited for the return of the Beards Diamond Rush. This will be our 4th year supporting Maggie’s, and every single penny raised goes directly to Maggie’s. We’ve shaken things up a bit by expanding the area and people should keep their eyes and ears open for the odd twist or two on the day...Maggie’s is a truly fantastic charity, that is close to our hearts and we’re very proud to support them. Their work is vital to the thousands of people in our county that are affected by cancer. We would dearly love to beat our 2017 total and we appeal to everyone to get involved, have fun and let’s raise as much as we can for this incredibly worthwhile cause.”

The event will begin at Beards Jewellers in Cheltenham at 10am on Sunday April 29 and treasure hunters will use their maps to direct themselves to the vicinity of each diamond. Clue Makers branded in Diamond Rush clothing will be strategically placed across Cheltenham and Gloucestershire and will be offering additional clues for an extra £5 donation.

Centre Fundraiser at Maggie’s, Anna Mason, said: “We’re all set and raring to go for this year’s Beards Diamond Rush. It’s just days away and we can’t wait, it’s always such a fun and exciting day. We’d like to thank everyone who has already purchased a map but don’t worry they will be available on the day too, along with extra clues. All the money we raise will make a huge difference, good luck and happy hunting!”

All the funds raised are used to make the biggest possible different to people living with cancer and their family and friends. £50 alone can help pay for an hour of immediate advice and support for someone just diagnosed with cancer with a Cancer Support Specialist.

Treasure maps are still available to purchase for £10 (instore, collection only) or £11 (online, posted, collection only from April 25 onwards). They are currently available to buy at the following locations: Beards Jewellers, Maggie’s, Waitrose, and online.

People will be able to follow the action on the day via Beards’ social media accounts: @BeardsJewellers or facebook/BeardsTheJewellers.

The event hashtag will be #BeardsDiamondRush.
