Mix things up by decorating with patterns, print and colour on furniture, accessories, walls, floors and more.

Whether you’re designing a new home or have decided to give your current nesting pad a mini facelift—adding pattern is a style-must! The right amount of pattern brings out solid colours and creates a visual texture in the room. Place a few gorgeous printed scatter cushions on your sofa, renew your dining room with a stylish wallpaper or go for pops of contrasting colour and pattern throughout your entire house!

“Mixing pattern and colour doesn’t have to mean bold, bright and clashing. When done tastefully, a scheme should complement and tone together to create something that is visually balanced.” – Alex Shledon, Owner and Director.

5 Designer’s Notes:

~ If you’re looking to create a whole new scheme, select patterns first, use these to pull colours for the rest of the space.

~ When reviving a weary room, add pops of colour and pattern in lamp shades, cushions, throws or pictures, choose a colour with life but that tones successfully with your room, the last thing you want to do is highlight the tiredness of the existing scheme.

~Plan your space, impulsive buys can be the best but make sure you have worked out their position in your home.

~ Rather than having a white backdrop, work with the colours in your accessories such as a favourite painting or print on a wall, or a cherished ornament on a shelf.

~If you’re not confident with colour, when introducing pattern to a room try working with a family of hues, rather than opposites.
