The Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials is approaching fast, and it’s shaping up to be a busy schedule for this stunning event held in the beautiful grounds of Chatsworth House on 13th-15th May

The weekend hosts a series of top class eventing competitions from Novice through to CIC3* with some of the very best competitors in the country taking part. There will also be an inaugural Event Rider Masters challenge.

This year also sees the recipients of the Dodson & Horrell Bursary receive their funding. The Bursary was launched to support four people’s plans and aspirations in the equine world. The four will be selected from over 500 nominees who were voted for by the equine community. Eminent judges Dan Hughes (Performance Director, British Equestrian Federation), Ian Stark OBE (Cross Country Course Designer) and Dodson & Horrell CEO, Sam Horrell, will select the winners and present the prizes on the Saturday of the horse trials.

As always there will be an array of entertainment for all the family, as well as the opportunity to support the official charity in 2016 – The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

The horse trials is a key event in the calendar for title sponsor, horse feed specialists Dodson & Horrell, not only does it put them at the heart of one of the best horse trials in the UK, it also gives them a great opportunity to meet riders and owners face to face. Dodson & Horrell nutritionists will be present to offer specialist advice to anyone visiting their stand – one among the many enticing and high quality trade stands in the shopping village.

Sam Horrell commented, ‘The Horse Trials play a valuable role in our sponsorship portfolio and we are proud to be a part of such an important occasion in the equestrian calendar. The setting at Chatsworth House provides a wonderful backdrop and allows everyone not only to enjoy the exciting competition but also to soak up the charming atmosphere that Chatsworth creates over the weekend.’

Event Director, Patricia Clifton added, ‘To have such a prestigious brand as Dodson & Horrell on board as sponsor of the horse trials is extremely rewarding and the team at Dodson & Horrell make working at the event so special. This year promises to be even better than ever!’

In other exciting news, Haygain is delighted to announce their sponsorship of the British Eventing Arena Eventing classes at the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials. The Haygain® Arena Eventing classes will take place in the Derwent Arena on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May and comprise of two classes each at BE 90 and BE 100.

Competitors will jump a course of show jumps immediately followed by cross country fences and will be based on an optimum speed of 375m/min for the cross country phase. The optimum time will be as agreed with the course designers, Ian Stark and Di Boddy.

Haygain® offers a range of scientifically proven hay steamers that eliminates respirable dust in hay and haylage by killing mould spores and bacteria to produce hygienically clean forage and thus aid in the prevention and management of respiratory conditions. By steaming hay and haylage to ultra-high temperatures, the patented Haygain® steamer produces highly-palatable forage that is fragrant and appetising, and - unlike soaking - steaming ensures that the essential nutrients are retained within the hay.
