Author Gervase Phinn and TV presenter Harry Gration gave their support to raising literacy standards at the Reading Matters’ fundraising gala dinner at The Midland Hotel in Bradford.

About 200 guests attended the event and helped to raise more than £17,000 which will be spent supporting young people who struggle with reading. Reading Matters provides children and young people who have fallen behind with their reading, an opportunity to catch up fast with help from its Yorkshire network of trained volunteer reading mentors. The charity helped over 4,600 children last year alone.
