Renowned for her “dazzling interpretative flair and exemplary technique” (Classic FM), concert violinist Jennifer Pike returns to the South West to perform in the sublime setting of Millfield’s Johnson Hall

Jennifer’s concert is the second of three concerts in Millfield’s annual International Concert Series and will take place on Thursday February 23 2017.

Jennifer has been an accomplished musician since she was a child. At the age of 12, Jennifer became the youngest-ever winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year and youngest major prize-winner in the Menuhin International Violin Competition. Since making celebrated BBC Proms and Wigmore Hall debuts at just 15 years of age, Jennifer has enjoyed an impressive international career, winning numerous awards, and performing and recording with some of the world’s finest conductors and orchestras in the most prestigious of venues.

Jennifer plays with tremendous technical skill and presence, performing with great lyricism, delicacy, and an intimate brilliance of tonal colouring combined with a beautiful quality of sound. Described by Simon Thompson as a “songstress of the violin”, her graceful and passionate virtuosity showcases her as one of the most extraordinarily gifted violinists on the world stage.

Matthew Cook, Director of Music at Millfield said; “Jennifer and I first crossed paths during our time at Chetham’s School of Music, back in the early 2000s. It was obvious then just how talented a musician she was – not every child prodigy was invited to perform for the Royal Family in the Royal Opera House at the age of 10.

“After following her remarkable career over the past ten years, it was an easy decision to give Jennifer a call and invite her to perform in our 2016-17 International Concert Series. She is very much looking forward to performing for the lucky 350 who attend what will be a spectacular concert. We really are very fortunate to be able to welcome Jennifer to the South West for this one-off performance at Millfield School. It will be a breathtaking evening.”
