The Rock Oyster Festival is a celebration of the best of Cornish food and drink, with fantastic entertainment and music.

Great British Life:

The Rock Oyster Festival now in its fifth year, returns to the understated Georgian splendour of Dinham House on the banks of the Camel estuary, near Wadebridge. The event, on 12 July, is more than simply a food festival: it is a celebration of the best of Cornish food and drink, with fantastic children’s entertainment and a night time programme packed with music

As the name of the festival suggests the succulent Porthilly Oysters, grown in the Camel estuary, are worthy of their headline billing. Tasting them is an absolute must for oyster lovers but, if oysters aren’t your thing, the festival prides itself on providing a fantastic selection of local food and drink: Organisers promise there will be something to delight all tastes.

Great British Life:

During the day Rock Oyster Festival will host a Farmer’s Market offering a delectable array of the best local produce including: award winning Cornish charcuterie and smoked meats, succulent mussels cooked by chefs of the St. Moritz Hotel, fabulous Cornish cheeses, sea food paellas and breads, cakes and pastries from Rick Stein’s bakery.

The fabulous food will be complemented by the best local wines, spirits and local ales.“We are delighted to team up with Sharp’s Brewery once again,” adds Charlie. “The Cornish Beer Tent will be serving the nations favourite ale, Doom Bar’ and the world’s best lager Sharp’s Cornish Pilsner’ alongside guest ales from local brewers Tintagel Brewery, Harbour Brewing Company and others.”

The Food Academy will host interactive food and cooking workshops for foodie fans who like to have a go at making their own. This year the theme is foraging in Cornwall and includes guest speakers Thom Hunt, one of River Cottage’s Three Hungry Boys’ and owner of forage business 7th Rise, and Caroline Davy from the Fat Hen forage school among others.

Great British Life:

The children will be taking over the little’ Big top all afternoon with Circus Berzercus guaranteed to have the kids and parents in stitches. Archery, fun fair and workshops, will all be added to the mix.

The music programme runs all day and through the night into the early hours, the line-up this year is guaranteed to keep festival revellers smiling all day and dancing all night. Charlie adds: “It’s a full programme of sea shanties from The Boscastle Buoys, swing, beautiful vocals and world class horn of Kitten & The Hip and the Balkan beat festival favourites The Destroyers.”
