The annual Rossendale Hospice ladies’ lunch was attended by 175 guests who helped to raise £11,400. The day at Nino’s Restaurant in Rawtenstall started with a fizz reception and a surprise visit from some policeman, who broke into a rendition of ‘O’ Sole Mio’ followed by dancing with ‘Dax on Sax’. Host for the day, Joe Casserley, then launched the auction which included prizes such as a seven night stay in a Spanish villa.

Sam Morris, fundraising manager, said: ‘The amount raised is a brilliant result for the ladies, who put in the hard work to organise this fantastic day, which is enjoyed by everyone who attends. It is also of great benefit to the patients at the hospice, who receive care thanks to the generosity of everyone involved.’
