Rossendale Hospice volunteers, who have raised £500,000 in 13 years, staged another successful ball at The Fence Gate Inn.

The glittering silver and black tie event celebrated 25 years of hospice care. Compere was Alan Keegan, the voice of Wembley Stadium and Old Trafford, and the auctioneer was Wilf McGuiness, former Manchester United manager who got all the guests bidding generously. Prizes included shirts signedby Usain Bolt, Andy Murray, David Beckham and Steven Gerrard.

Area D provided entertainment and a Jaeger watch worth £3,800, donated by Rockefellers was won by one lucky guest for just £20!

Sam Morris, community fundraising manager said: ‘We very grateful to guests and gave so generously.’
