Salterns Marina in Poole hosts this popular boat show which attracts the very best boating brands within the marine industry
The prestigious Salterns Marina, with its 5 Gold Anchor status, is the venue for this year’s Sandbanks Boat Show organised by Salterns Brokerage. In its third year, the highly successful show is now an established date in the boating calendar. This year’s event, which counts Dorset magazine as one of its main sponsors, is held over the weekend of the 11-12 May and has attracted the very best brands within the marine industry with over 80 new motor yachts and sailing boats will be on display.
“This boutique-style boat show has been truly welcomed by the marine industry; dealers, manufacturers, associated companies, the boating press and visitors alike,” says Russell Hayden of Salterns. “When we organised the show back in 2011 we didn’t realise just how successful this event would become. It’s just what the visitor and trade were looking for as an alternative to the larger shows like Southampton and London. We have progressed and improved each year and look to bring you an even better show for 2013.”
Having set the date at the beginning of the boating season, the organisers hope to attract visitors of all ages and help them in their search for new craft - whether it’s a dinghy or a luxury motor cruiser.
The show provides the perfect opportunity for boating enthusiasts to see an impressive selection of vessels and products including marine electronics, engines and chandlery with professionals on hand to provide expert advice.
The RNLI will also be holding a lifejacket clinic so water sports enthusiasts can bring their lifejackets along and have them checked over free of charge.
For hungry sailors and visitors enjoying a good day out, there is the Salterns Seafood Bar, serving delicious, freshly-cooked seafood dishes while the Piddle Pub will serve a range of local ales and Dorset ciders, including the Amber Piddle, Silent Slasher and Jimmy Riddle.
If you like a good pie with your pint, Timmy’s Pies - who supply Harvey Nicols and top London pubs – are truly scrumptious.
