The annual Shrievalty Dinner which celebrates the end of a High Sheriff’s year was held at East Lodge in Rowsley

Over 40 past, current and High Sheriffs in Nomination were in attendance. The guest of honour was the Recorder of Derby Crown Court, Judge John Burgess. Retiring High Sheriff Derek Mapp gave a report on the past year’s events and expressed a tribute to the many unsung heroes who selflessly contribute their time, often without reward, to make Derbyshire a safe and enjoyable place to live. He also extended his best wishes to new High Sheriff David Coleman and his wife Hilary. In response, Judge Burgess thanked the many High Sheriffs for creating a strong bond between the High Sheriffs and the Judiciary in the county, recounting numerous events of funny stories that had happened in the High Sheriff’s year.
