A charity evening to raise money for the Alder Hey Cancer Unit was held at Leicester Warren Hall in Knutsford. The fundraiser was in memory of five-year-old Skye Higgins from Acton Bridge, who before passing away of leukaemia last year received treatment at the unit.
Activities took place throughout the day, including a bag pack at Booths in Knutsford, before over 140 guests attended the ‘Dancing with Skye’ event, where an auction and raffle took place. Prizes included a tour around the McLaren Mercedes factory and a dinner for two at Piccolino in Knutsford. Over £6,000 was raised for Alder Hey, with £3,000 raised from the auction alone.
Organisers Jo Dignam, Liz Pugh, Susy Davis and Jude Williams decided to raise money for the unit. Skye was a member of Jude Williams’ twin daughters’ ballet class: ‘It has been a combined effort from the Knutsford community. We thank everyone who has donated, they are all amazing. I know that Skye’s family have been overwhelmed by the generosity.’
