Somerset is celebrating the birth of the Royal baby in many different ways.
Here at Somerset Life we were thrilled to hear of the safe delivery of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s son.
Puxton Park near Weston-super-Mare is celebrating its own arrival, which is to be named after The Prince of Cambridge.
Staff welcomed a red and white Holstein Friesian calf to the attraction the same day as the Royal arrival.
To celebrate its arrival on the same day as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, staff have decided to honour the occasion by naming the calf after him.
Puxton’s Alistair Mead said: “The world is eager to celebrate the birth of the heir to the throne and we wanted to mark the occasion with our own Royal celebration.
“We have therefore decided to name our new baby red and white Holstein Friesian after the Prince of Cambridge, as they were both born within hours of each other.”
The royal baby, the third in line to the throne, weighed 8lbs 6oz.
In further honour of this memorable occasion Puxton Park is to name its new £100,000 train track and platform after the Royal couple’s son.
The new 400-metre train track and platform will be unveiled to the public for the first time on 1 August, at an official opening ceremony.
It will offer tours around the lake through the conservation area and through surrounding fields to offer visitors an added adventure.

To celebrate the momentous occasion, Hill Bakers displayed it at The Winter Gardens on Tuesday.
