The friends of St Anne’s Church of England School, at Woodplumpton, Preston, staged a gala ball at The Marriott Hotel to celebrate the school’s 150th anniversary. All profit being raised will be used to purchase outdoor equipment.
It was the first ball in living memory at this small church school, which has just over 90 pupils. The school is closely linked to St Anne’s Church, said to be the resting place of the Fylde Witch, Meg Shelton. Legend has it she is buried under a boulder in the churchyard. There wasn’t a peep out of her during the ball.
