Supporters of St Mary’s Hospice in the Lancashire town of Ulverston staged a successful fundraising event at Cartmel Racecourse. The ‘Forget Me Not Ball’ was a glamorous black tie evening with guests enjoying a three course dinner followed by a fun-filled evening of entertainment.
This is a special year for the hospice. It was 25 years ago that Bob Wright, a prominent Ulverston shopkeeper, handed over a large Victorian house to be the centre for palliative care in the South Lakes. This act of generosity was matched by the local community which raised £600,000 to establish the hospice. Since then, it has helped more than 15,000 families across the region.
