Stars from ITV’s Emmerdale fielded a cricket team for a charity match against Cromford Meadows Cricket Club

Stars from ITV’s Emmerdale fielded a cricket team for a match against Cromford Meadows Cricket Club to celebrate its 150th anniversary and raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research (www.beatingbloodcancers.org.uk). Chris Chittell (Eric Pollard), Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe), Chris Bisson (Jai Sharma) and Natalie Anderson (Alicia Gallagher) were among the familiar faces from the prime time TV soap. As well as watching the cricket, there was a chance to enjoy a VIP tea with the stars and live music from vocalist and BBC’s The Voice finalist Beth McCarthy, and a charity auction. A total of £1,500 was raised for the charity and Club Chairman Alex Bunting declared it ‘a great way to mark 150 years of cricket on The Meadows.’

The Meadows claimed a place in cricketing history in 1903 as the place where WG Grace lost a bet when he was bowled out by local girl Jessie Lawton, captain of Derwent Ladies Cricket Club and sister of the Derbyshire captain. w
