In line with soaring UK temperatures, Stay In Devon have produced an Infographic that directly compares a holiday at home to a holiday abroad, in a bid to increase tourism to the region.

With an aim to contradict Thomas Cook’s research from 2012, which claimed it is more expensive to holiday in Devon than Majorca, Stay in Devon has found statistics to prove that a holiday to Devon is a better option than a holiday to Majorca. Internet traffic to stayindevon.co.uk as already increased by 12.05% in one month from June to July this year, not to mention the recent tourist board reports of increasing visitor numbers. Holiday experts have also suggested that Devon can expect over 2 million holiday-makers by the end of the year as 65% of British adults are holidaying in the UK in 2013, compared with only 41% in 2012 and 35% in 2011.

Managing Director James Morris adds “The distinct rise in visitor numbers to our website confirms that the UK is an important tourist destination, and Devon is arguably the cream of the crop. We hope that this Infographic will encourage more visitors from home and away to enjoy the stunning South West of England”.

As part of a wider campaign to boost British tourism in the area, and in order to help push Devon in the British Travel Awards for Best UK Holiday County or Region award, an Infographic was commissioned. There will also be a competition running alongside this campaign where entrants will have the opportunity to win the ultimate October Half Term Holiday to Devon, with prizes including accommodation, free entry to great attractions, a family surf lesson, a Devon hamper full of treats, a beach bag from The Old Bag Company, and a meal at a local restaurant.

The Infographic, which contains interesting facts about the county, aims to make people think twice before booking a holiday abroad in a fun and lively way.

With the heat wave set to continue, and the temperatures remaining high for the foreseeable future, Stay In Devon hope that the Infographic will encourage more people to enjoy a stay-cation in beautiful Devon.
