A glamorous black tie ball was held at Thornton Manor, Wirral, in aid of raising funds for a health clinic in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The New Hope Ball raised over £7,000 and starred BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing professionals Ian Waite and Camilla Dallerup. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception followed by a four course meal before enjoying a number of exhibition performances from the dancing duo.

Organisers John and Myra Sloan started the New Hope charity in 1997 to support overseas medical work: ‘It was a mesmorising evening. Camilla and Ian put on a splendid display. We are going out to DRC in October to progress on the project.’
