Oxfordshire charity Style Acre, which specialises in enhancing the lives of people with learning disabilities, has expanded at Howbery Business Park near Wallingford, with the opening of the Style Acre Cabin thanks to the donation of a Portakabin from local building contractor, Kingerlee, coupled with free ground rent from Howbery Business Park.
Style Acre was in desperate need of more space to create a quiet area at Howbery to provide massage, relaxation and the learning of relaxation techniques to adults with learning disabilities, which is critical to improve the quality of life of people with autism. Kate Liddle, Chief Executive of Style Acre, said: “We are extremely grateful for Kingerlee’s continued support of Style Acre. Together, with Howbery Business Park, they have made it possible for us to create a calming area that will be the perfect retreat for many of the people we help on a daily basis.” The total donation, including delivery and installation of the 240 sq. ft. Portakabin from Kingerlee coupled with Howbery Business Park’s rate for charities is £12,800. Style Acre and Kingerlee are currently working on the refurbishment of a disused nightclub in Butchers Row, Banbury, to establish a hub for adults with learning disabilities in North Oxfordshire. Sam Brown, Kingerlee’s Contract Manager overseeing the project, said: “Kingerlee is committed to ensuring our business is making a positive contribution to the local community and we fully support the fantastic work of the Style Acre team. We have a great deal of experience at working on building projects that support individuals with disabilities, not least our current project with Style Acre in Banbury, and are delighted we could help create the Style Acre Cabin.” Style Acre’s headquarters will remain at Howbery Business Park where the charity has been based for six years.
