That's my business: Craig Muskett of Riverside Kitchens, Warrington
Craig Muskett, general manager of Riverside Kitchens in Warrington, the North West's largest kitchen manufacturing retailer with over 50 full sized displays in their showroom, shares the secret of their success
What we do: The manufacture and fitting of top quality kitchens, however, not a lot of people know this but we also make furniture for bedrooms and home offices and now have a commercial side for the refitting of office kitchens, breakout areas and receptions.
Who we do it for: Up until the end of last year, around 90 per cent of our customer base came from the retail market of homeowners looking to enhance their properties with a new modern and stylish kitchen. We have now expanded into the commercial world and are able to supply businesses with new and more energy efficient kitchens for their staff and provide the similar levels of comforts that they would receive in their own homes.
What makes us special: The company prides itself on many unique selling points, the main one being that, because we manufacture our own kitchens, all of which are completely hand made on site, we can create your kitchen to any height, any width or any depth without restriction.
How we got started: From humble beginnings in 2001, Riverside Kitchens has gone from strength to strength and has become the North West’s largest manufacturing kitchen retailer with an impressive 7000 square feet showroom in Parr Street, Warrington, housing over 50 full sized kitchen displays. In 2007, we opened an equally impressive 3500 square foot showroom at Park Court in St Helens, with more than 30 kitchen and bedroom displays on two floors. Both showrooms feature a fantastic array of granite, silestone and eco friendly worktops.
Business person I most admire. Duncan Bannatyne, he started off his business empire in the 70s with a 450 ice cream van and now he’s amassed around 320million through various business opportunities. He’s a bloke who doesn’t mind getting ‘stuck in’ to a job and is not afraid to take chances.
My right hand man is…That would be Tony Houghton, he’s our chief designer and has an amazing eye for detail. He creates some truly amazing kitchens in spaces you wouldn’t think possible. He brings our customers’ kitchen dreamsto life.

Secret of our success: Our cabinets are built to last with a 10 year guarantee and to complement the workmanship, we offer all the latest energy efficient and high-performance appliances from top names like Neff, Siemens, Bosch, etc, as well as an extensive range of accessories, giving you a bespoke kitchen built to your individual requirements and offering you a complete service from start to finish. And best of all, as a manufacturer, you get to buy the kitchen of your dreams direct from the source. This in turn means big saving can be made, as there are no ‘middle-men’ to promote our products and add on ‘their costs and overheads’ to you, the end customer.
My business philosophy/top tip: We continuously strive to be a company that people are proud to do business with by listening to our customers needs and then working with them to create something truly special for their requirements but at price that’s affordable and honest. That’s why we are still trading today, when so many businesses are falling by the wayside due to a combination of lack of customer focus and poor product pricing.
When I’m not working I like to: The business is growing, so at the moment there isn’t a lot of free time for hobbies, so just spending quality time with my family and seeing what their day has been like more than makes up for the long hours.
My next move: I’m very happy where I am right now and have great support from everyone within the company, so for me, the main focus is to keep our business plans on track and keep making our customers dreams into reality.
