The stars of the northern design scene came out to play for a lavish awards ceremony in the suitably impressive location of The Monastery, in Gorton, Manchester.

For Pugin’s architectural masterpiece was chosen as the venue for the 11th Northern Design Awards. The magnificence of the listed building drew gasps of admiration from the 300 guests from the world of interiors, building and architecture from around the North-West. The main banqueting hall, with its stained glass windows expertly lit, was a stunning spectacle.

Cheshire Life, Lancashire Life and Yorkshire Life magazines were proud to be among the sponsors of the occasion for the second year running. The judging panel comprised design professionals and celebrities including Morecambe-born Red or Dead founder Wayne Hemingway - whose also co-hosted the event - and Yorkshire’s Linda Barker.

Guests enjoyed a drinks reception, followed by a four-course meal, the presentation of the accolades, and entertainment from a band and young musicians from the Royal Northern College of Music.
