The annual Irish Abroad charity ball was held at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester, complete with a theatre cabaret theme of ‘The Show Must Go On’ inspired by the film, Moulin Rouge. Around 300 guests enjoyed a lively performance directed by singer Peter Corry and choreographed by Fleur Mellor. Over the evening, £40,000 was raised for charities.
Founder trustees of Irish Abroad, Joe Kennedy and Tom Flaherty, were presented with a crystal plaque in recognition of their loyalty and commitment to raising funds for local causes, in particular Francis House Children’s Hospice. The Didsbury charity has received in excess of £350,000 from Irish Abroad since the event started.
