Since the co-ownership changed with James Perrins & Allister Boote in 2012, the reputation of this idyllic canal side pub, situated on the banks of the Shropshire Union Canal, accessible from junction 16 of the M6 along the A51, really has soared.

The restaurant side now boasts a wide variety of fresh food made with the very best ingredients grown out of James’ twenty plus years’ experience in hotels and high-end restaurants. Now operating as head chef, James ensures your pub classics are always available along with more fine dining a la carte dishes to add to the relaxed dynamic.

This pub has become a paradigm of high quality food served by staff, fronted by AGM Liz Barbier, who will greet you not just with a warm smile but with a genuine desire to do whatever it takes to ensure your experience is the most stress-free and relaxed visit it can possibly be.

The menus here are diverse, catering for a variety of ages and appetites which includes a great children’s menu and a lighter bites menu available mid week throughout the day. The kitchen and front of house team also make sure they can deal with any dietary requirements their guests may have.

Whether it’s a soft drink or a something a little stronger you’re after, the helpful bar staff are there to help you make your decision. The aesthetically pleasing bar with its beautiful wood panelled and mirrored finish stocks Cask Marque assured ales from local brewery Weetwood Ales, and you can also find guest ales throughout the summer months.
