This event is organised by Funkylush Events, a husband and wife team with a multitude of experience in all event planning and organisation. Their distinct, creative and forward thinking company has organised many events throughout Sussex and with a genuine passion and natural ability for providing quality, stylish and memorable events, there is no doubt that the Brighton Charity Ball will be a night to remember.

The evening is supported by Gifts for Angels and is being held in loving memory of Lola Rice. Gifts for Angels are an online shop that sells bright and beautiful grave side pieces and sympathy gifts. It was established two years ago by Michelle De La Motte-Rice after the devastating loss of her daughter Lola.

Lola was nearly three years old when she woke one morning feeling sick. Over the next three days several doctors diagnosed Lola with a tummy bug. On the fourth day following a small seizure she was rushed to A&E. After many hours she was given a brain scan where they discover Lola had a brain tumour. After a major operation in St Thomas’ the next day, Lola passed away.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 years of age in the UK and yet it receives less than 1% of the national cancer research budget. It is not a particularly well known fact, but 20% of all cancers spread to the brain.

Brain Tumour Research was launched in 2009 to raise awareness of and funding for scientific research into brain tumours and improve outcomes for patients. It is the only national charity in the UK that is dedicated to granting 100% of its funds to continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours.

A cure for this dreadful disease needs years of dedicated research if we are to achieve the same success in treatments as have been discovered for diseases such as leukaemia, breast and lung cancer.

The aim of this charity is to establish a network of flourishing brain tumour research centres throughout the UK, which together will put this county at the forefront of international brain tumour research. We currently have one established in Portsmouth and now have three more in Plymouth, Imperial College London and UCL. We need to raise £1m per year to fund each centre, so our aim is to raise £7m per annum.

The Brighton Charity Ball promises to be an evening not to be missed, and we would be thrilled if you are able to take part in whatever way you can.

We are currently looking for sponsorship for this fabulous evening. It will be a well publicised event and any company/small business willing to sponsor this evening will benefit from a range of press coverage to include all aspects of social media as well as their literature in goody bags, on tables and a display throughout the evening as well as much more. Please join us to make this evening a wonderful success.
