Grand voyages across the sea was the theme of The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity’s annual Ball which was held at The Titanic Hotel’s Rum Warehouse.

Around 320 guests helped raise £105,000 on the evening, with auction items that included two royal world premiere tickets with hospitality for the new James Bond film, Spectre, from Clatterbridge Patron Daniel Craig.

Patient Becky Brothwood, aged 18, spoke movingly of her experience at Clatterbridge and introduced a short film which featured the story of another patient as told by her widower, Andy Shute. The film outlined the need for reclining bedside chairs in the new cancer hospital being built in the centre of Liverpool (the city’s first cancer hospital) and as a result 67 chairs were bought on the night. w
