Gibbon Bridge Hotel is an institution for many, with rooms full of history and happy memories. It’s a perfect place for those wanting to celebrate their magical moments, for wanting to escape to the countryside for a couple of days, or for people who just want to enjoy a delicious homely meal in beautiful surroundings.

Having worked in hospitality for many years and gaining valuable experience within the industry, Janet Simpson left her job at The Dog and Partridge where she worked as a general assistant and chef and went to work with her mother.

From baking delicious treats to outside catering, this duo with help from family and friends set their sights on the concept of the Gibbon Bridge Hotel.

Through a lot of hard work and determination, a dilapidated barn near the village of Chipping was renovated and the Gibbon Bridge Hotel opened its doors in 1982.

Proprietor Janet, stayed local to her roots, with a mission to allow her guests to have a taste of all the amazing goods Lancashire has to offer, from sampling vegetables grown within their own gardens to constantly updating their menu with seasonal and local produce. The Forest of Bowland has gained a reputation as a foodie destination in recent years and the Gibbon Bridge Hotel has certainly contributed to that notion.

Over the years, the hotel went from success to success and with Janet’s vision, this award winning country hotel now has over thirty spacious bedrooms and split level suites that offer luxurious accommodation in picturesque surroundings.

But what makes this hotel unique and why guests continue to return time and time again can be seen in the attention to detail that Janet and her team focus on.

The hotel has incorporated archways and windows from St Michael and All Angels church at Bastwell as well as twelve cast-iron Victorian pillars that were salvaged from the Preston Public Hall, a haunt of Janet’s youth.
