The Royal Three Counties Show makes a welcome return to the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, June 16-18. It’s the perfect day out for family and friends wanting to celebrate the countryside together

With a host of outdoor activities for visitors to get involved in, the action-packed Royal Three Counties Show promises something for everyone. Show-stopping displays and demonstrations bring together the very best in farming, food and family entertainment. Soak up the atmosphere and watch the show lakeside, ringside, theatre-side or even at peace in Jekka McVicar’s new Health and Wellbeing Garden or Mark Eveleigh’s unique Treehouse Garden. Learn about rural life with the help of three exciting new show features:

Wellington Boot Theatre

To learn about the great outdoors, the exciting new Wellington Boot Theatre, hosted by BBC Hereford and Worcestershire presenter Andrew Easton, aims to inspire showgoers to try new activities. Join in with Andrew and his guests with Q&As and enjoy entertainment provided by the Gloucestershire Morris Men among others. Horticulturists, world champion cyclists, international rugby players and wildlife experts are just some of the professionals on hand here to share their passions. BBC Countryfile presenter and Show Ambassador, Adam Henson, will entertain the crowds daily and present informative talks. There will also be the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of his new book.

Country Pursuits Village

Get a real feel for country life in the Country Pursuits Village where the new arena offers something for everyone. An action¬packed programme includes an opportunity to ‘Meet the Countryside’ and demystify any puzzling country myths. Enjoy first-class entertainment from daring acrobats to breathtaking falconry, and watch impressive animal displays and country sport demonstrations.

Farming Village

Visit the Farming Village to discover everything and anything about the world of farming. See some of the finest livestock around, meet the farmers and watch over 3,000 animals compete to be crowned champions.

The brand new ‘Ask the Farmer’ Theatre in conjunction with Rare Breeds Survival Trust provides the perfect opportunity for all showgoers to ask any farming related questions in a relaxed setting. Find out why farmers have learnt to predict the weather through the study of animal behaviours, from why cattle lie down before a rainstorm, to the real meaning behind country sayings such as the “red sky at night, shepherds delight”. Learn all about breeds native to Gloucestershire and listen to talks and demonstrations from experts in the industry who are willing to share their experiences and bountiful knowledge.

The much-loved Woolly Roadshow returns to the Discover Sheep Marquee. Watch sheep strut their stuff in the Woolly Roadshow, a spectacle you really don’t want to miss. The quirky fashion show celebrates the story of wool along with live displays of some incredible ancient crafts, and the opportunity to join in and try your hand at spinning, felting and knitting.

The ever-enthusiastic Young Farmers return, injecting a healthy amount of fun into proceedings. With trademark humorous competitions scheduled over the three days, from an Adam Henson look-a-like competition to the legendary Tug of War.

Other areas not to be missed

A definite destination for families will be the Medieval Active Camp hosted by the Woodvilles Battle Re-enactment Group. This medieval living village will offer children in particular the chance to dress up as a soldier, participate in authentic medieval games and walk through Gloucestershire’s famous battles.

Another family-friendly activity is the Gloucestershire Hotspot Trail. There are 15 hotspots to find across the showground, each celebrating the greatness of Gloucestershire. Solve the anagram and claim your prize from sponsors Western Power Distribution.

For energetic visitors, join Active Avenue to try different outdoor pursuits. Enjoy electric bike demonstrations from GTech, and see magnificent displays from Malvern Cycle Sport, who are also available for coaching advice. For golf enthusiasts, there’s the England Golf feature for those seeking advice on their swing and looking to improve their game. Worcester Warriors are set to make a return to the Showground with interactive rugby skills workshops, and there will also be a chance to plunge into the pool with a scuba diving lesson.

The Main Arena entertainment never fails to deliver, and this year is no exception. With a packed timetable headlined by daring Bolddog Lings FMX team, live music from The Band of the Prince of Wales’s Division, displays from The Red Devils, and a Grand Parade of livestock each day, there promises to be something for everyone.

Making a welcome return is the mouthwatering Food and Drinks Hall. Food and farming go hand in hand, and the Royal Three Counties Show promises to whet the appetite of the finest foodies.

Showcasing the very best of local produce, the Food & Drink Hall will offer a host of tasty treats to try whilst the Cookery Theatre welcomes local chefs on stage to cook up a storm. Visit the new Three Counties Cider Festival & Garden or try the delicious new Three Counties Beer made by Hillside Brewery, whilst admiring the selection of three counties dairy produce on display in the Cheese & Dairy Produce Show.

The Royal Three Counties Show will take place from Friday, June 16 until Sunday, June 18, 2017.
