A fantastic £10,500 was raised for two children’s charities at The Scarlett Ball at Rochdale Town Hall.

There were 220 guests, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, and the money raised will be split between The Rainbow Trust and the When You Wish Upon A Star foundation.

Matt Davies, who organised the ball with his wife Kay, said: ‘The ball was a great success in both raising money to help the charities and also raising awareness of how normal families can have their lives turned upside down. Although we had contributions from local businesses, the majority of the money came from the pockets of local families - a wonderful effort from the people of Rochdale.

Plans are already starting for a second Scarlett Ball.’ The event was named after Matt and Kay’s daughter, who was struck down by a serious illness aged just two.
