Thousands of visitors descended on Formby to attend the second Formby Festival, a celebration of food, drink and music. Despite the glum weather on the Saturday, it didn’t stop those determined to have a good time watching the live bands, singers and firework display.

Across the weekend there were artisan foods from around the world and a farmers’ market, alongside bars offering craft beers and real ale. Children were kept entertained with a circus school, cookery classes and even chance to play with Everton Football Academy.

Maria Bennett, one of the organisers said: ‘We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in staging this event. It takes 12 months of planning and all involved are volunteers. The feedback has been tremendous from the public and we will strive to make the event even better for next year.

‘We thank all the display teams, singers and bands who carried on in the rain - that’s what it is all about, pulling together to make a difference for the community.’
