For Tideswell Male Voice Choir’s annual visit to Buxton Opera House, The Military Wives Choir returned as special guests for another sell-out performance
The evening began with a stirring rendition of Barry Manilow’s ‘One Voice’. The Military Wives, directed by Rachel Smith, then took centre stage for a selection including ‘Annie’s Song’ and Take That’s ‘Rule The World’. Under Dennis Kaye’s directorship Tideswell explored pop-standard territory with ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, ‘He Ain’t Heavy – He’s My Brother’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, all delivered with Tideswell’s trademark polish.
The choir’s annual visit to Buxton is an opportunity to showcase some of the brightest young talent around. This year Kieron-Connor Valentine, Georgia Odette and Charlotte Hoather sang with the choir for the first time while Erin Alexander repeated last year’s success.
After the break we were taken back to 19th century Paris and the world of Les Miserables. The young soloists were sublime and received a standing ovation at the end of another marvellous evening.
