The overall pass rate for A-Levels this year was 99%

Students are celebrating their A-Level achievements this year with an overall pass rate of 99%. Over a third of all entries were at the two highest A* and A grades, and almost two thirds graded A* to B.
The vast majority will now take up their place at university – studying a broad range of subjects from Law and Modern Languages to Forensic Psychology and Textile Design - or on highly competitive apprenticeships.
History was the top performing subject, with almost half of students getting A* or A, and 81% achieving A* to B grades. Three of them are going to read History at Oxford.
In addition to their A levels, the number of students taking the increasingly popular Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) almost doubled, with 93% of students gaining an A*to B and 79% students achieving A* to A.
One of these is Head Boy, Drama Scholar and Sixth Form boarder, Cameron Bovell, who secured 3A*s. Having been involved in Trent College’s successful debating team and the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) as well as playing first team hockey, he believes his variety of experiences made a big difference in his Oxford application.
Cameron, who also attended Trent College’s junior school, The Elms, said: “Being a drama scholar has been integral to my life at Trent; the different skills you learn are reflected in the way I respond to people and have made me more confident about getting involved in various things.
