Kind hearted students from the University of Gloucestershire are bringing music from the movies to Cheltenham in May for one night only, in the hope of raising funds for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice
A group of students studying Film Studies at the university have arranged the special performance by the Cheltenham based TFO Community Orchestra, to take place on Saturday May 6.
The live 40 piece orchestra will be performing some of the best loved music from the big screen, offering the opportunity to experience the power of amazing film scores such as The Godfather, The Dark Knight Rises and many more.
The event is open to everyone, with the University throwing open the doors to its stunning historic Chapel at Francis Close Hall to put on a night of real atmosphere and drama, all whilst raising much needed funds for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.
Tickets are free, but must be secured in advance, as it is expected to be a block busting sell-out.
Funds will be raised for the local hospice charity on the night through donations, refreshments and charity raffle, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the hospice, which offers the only inpatient unit giving 24/7 specialist palliative care.
George Wright is one of the group of students arranging the fundraiser. He said, “We are a group of final year Film Studies students at the University of Gloucestershire and we are passionate about all things film. We are eager to demonstrate the power of film music while giving back to the community.”

“The care and support they provide is some of the best and I believe that it’s important that their work not only gets further attention and awareness, but is also rewarded and appreciated.”

Students are inviting patients and their families, volunteers and staff from the hospice as their guests of honour on the night.
George added, “An evening of film music is the perfect event to give patients, loved ones and staff an evening to be whisked away to another world of adventure, excitement and emotion while demonstrating the power and significance of the music of the big screen.”
“This is a local event we are providing for everyone in the local community, and we hope to see lots of people joining us for this very special one off performance.”
