More than £3,000 was raised in aid of Poulton’s Vicarage Park Community Centre at a glittering fundraising ball held at the Village Hotel, Blackpool.

The event was hosted by VPCC chairman Alastair Thomas and Mrs Charlotte Thomas with guests of honour, the Mayor and Mayoress of Wyre, Coun Tom Balmain and Mrs Alene Balmain. Besides marking the 90th anniversary of Poulton’s former church hall, which is now to become a community centre, the funds raised will go towards the £70,000 restoration of the building’s tower.

More than 200 people attended the black and silver themed ball for a three-course meal, charity auction and raffle, followed by dancing to a band and DJ.
