Inspiration for your dream day with this 1950s bridal photo shoot, with a high end Vogue twist. Shot on vintage buses at The Piece Hall in Halifax, red meets ivory, black and metallics; on trend with this year’s heavy monochrome fashion.
With the vintage trend still riding high this 50s themed bridal shoot shows brides-to-be how to create the perfect vintage wedding day with a twist; from glamorous gowns to transport and stunning flowers.
The brainchild of Kirsty from Yorkshire Heritage Bus Company and photographer Lissa Alexandra the starting point was a Vogue book on weddings.
‘My wedding photography style is very fun, natural and a little bit quirky,’ says Lissa. ‘The theme of the shoot was 50s Vogue, but as this tends to be a lot of ridged posing, I wanted to bring a more flirty feel to the shots. We had such good fun taking the photos. I love the shot of the girls trying to elegantly take a bite out of the miny Victoria sponge cakes; it’s my favourite, because even though it was set up the laughter from it was very natural and that always makes the best photograph for me.’
Co-collaborator Kirsty says: ‘As the shoot theme was 50s Vogue inspired, the main bus we used was our gorgeous 1951 Guy Arab III single decker, a perfect choice. This is such a cute bus that we mainly use for transporting small intimate wedding parties and most bridal parties on their wedding day and we feel this is portrayed really well in the shoot.
We then added four other vintage buses; we wanted a pop of colour from the red London Routemaster and a monochrome chicness from our black and ivory double deckers. All of the buses we chose fit perfectly with our colour scheme for the shoot of red, black and ivory and created a real wow factor in the photographs as you can see.’
