The UK fashion elite came out of London recently and found out what we already know - the north’s got style
A carnival of champagne, shopping and general giddy fun took over Manchester City Centre for one night only. The occasion? Vogue Fashion Night, which has located to the city following similar occasions in London and New York - And didn’t we enjoy ourselves?
Harvey Nichols Manchester marked its tenth birthday in serious style as the who’s who of the fashion elite joined the party on VFN. The fashion crowds flocked to the shopping party to catch a glimpse of ten much loved designers and special guests including Sophia Webster, Roksanda Ilincic, Markus Lupfer, Joanna Sykes (Creative Director at NicoleFarhi), Jacky Tsai, Philip Armstrong and Joleon Lescott and Lee Sedman (Lescott Stewart).
Live Vogue Fashion Night Out T-shirt customisations took place throughout the evening, as the designers and special guests popped up on womenswear in their style sheds to excited crowds eager to get their hands on a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Made in Chelsea’s Oliver Proudlock and Jamie Laing were greeted by a gaggle of fans at their screen printing station, with Markus Lupfer spray painting his iconic pout print and Jacky Tsai customising each official T-shirt with his renowned skull design. Not one to miss out on the party, respected designers Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders also joined the star studded bash, with guests Leanne Brown, Kelly Wright and Kim Crew also in attendance.
Over at Selfridges some of the biggest names in British fashion were to be seen enjoying the celebrations in store. Industry faces including model Daisy Lowe, designer royalty Henry Holland, Erdem and William Banks-Blaney, DJ Jameela Jamil and pop star Eliza Doolittle all enjoyed the fun a la mode on every floor of Selfridges’ Exchange Square store whilst customers and guests were treated to a whole host of glamorous fun in every department.
Manchester-based online fashion retailer boohoo.com came to show their support in their iconic pink boohoo double decker bus, which was located next to Market Street and was host to four makeover stations, 2,500 goodie bags and a specially curated clothing collection that was available to purchase on board alongside an exclusive FREE next day delivery service.
The Arndale was turned into a massive fashion playground with fashion shows, make-overs, parties in stores, fashion exclusives and a giant pair of red shoes!

In Exchange Court a unique moving catwalk featured the latest A/W13 high street trends from the centre’s big name stores in a show where the choreography was a collaboration between Arthur Gourounlian and Chad Taylor – two renowned industry professionals.
Over 60 retailers/brands within the Arndale took part in Vogue Fashion’s Night Out and with parties at Spinnigfields and Jean Jackson Couture at the Northern Quarter proved the event was not only a great success but the city is indeed one of the coolest places on the planet!
