Following last year’s sell-out success, Derby’s Folk Festival returns to the heart of the city from 2nd to 4th October. The line-up is a who’s who from the broad spectrum of folk music and includes Eddi Reader, Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, Faustus, Melrose Quartet, John Tams & Barry Coope, Leveret, John Spiers, Blair Dunlop, Bob Fox, The Liberty to Choose, Calan, Steve Tilston, Moore, Moss & Rutter, Artisan, Lester Simpson, Winter: Wilson, The Teacups, The Dovetail Trio, Seven Little Sisters, The Derbyshire Volunteers and many more. Venues include the Market Place, Guildhall Theatre, The Old Bell Hotel and Derby Cathedral.

1st October, 7.30pm - Bendrix

Benji Kirkpatrick presents The Hendrix Project. Well-known on the UK folk scene for his work with Bellowhead and Faustus, Benji embarks on a new solo project, reinterpreting the songs of Jimi Hendrix on banjo, mandolin and bouzouki. Guildhall Theatre

2nd October, 8pm - Fire in the North Sky

‘Epic Tales from Finland’. Be transported by songs, adventure and the stories of Kalevala. Travel to the extremes of the Finnish landscape and experience authentic creation myths. Leading UK storyteller Nick Hennessey and three virtuoso Finnish musicians make these 2000 year old traditional stories come alive. Guildhall Theatre
