All-women cast stage their production of Dracula at Cornwall's dramatic cliff-top theatre The Minack as the sun goes down.

Great British Life:

Bram Stoker’s classic will be performed as darkness falls on Cornwall’s cliffside theatre. And we are giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky winner!

A bold new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic “Dracula” will be brought to life in Cornwall this September on the atmospheric cliffside stage of the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno as the finale to mark the end of the Minack’s 2014 theatrical season

Entitled “Dracula: The Kisses…” the show is being produced by Cornish-based production hub Scary Little Girls following their hugely successful national tour and sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival.

Performances will be staged each evening for a week from 22-26 September at 8pm. To find out what we can expect from this eagerly-awaited production, we spoke to Scary Little Girls’ Artistic Director Rebecca Mordan.

“Bram Stoker’s original Gothic tale is not only a classic piece of Victorian fin de siècle literature,” said Rebecca, “it’s a ripping good yarn packed to the brim with sex, power struggles, vampires, seduction, the supernatural, lust, superstition and sexual politics.

“Our new adaptation aims to create a wildly entertaining romp from these exotic themes, but the real twist is that we have an all-female cast, so we get to explore and have fun with these motifs and take them in new, challenging and interesting directions for a contemporary audience.

“We want to give the text a new, more modern lease of life – to entertain you as well as make you think – and believe me there’s a lot we can say – and a lot of fun to be had – with Victorian attitudes to sex, power and gender!” said Rebecca

The all-female cast will feature the cream of Cornish theatrical talent as part of a locally and nationally acclaimed ensemble.
