Over 120 people attended a gala dinner to raise funds for Wirral Hospice St John’s. Their ‘Eleven Twelve Thirteen’ event was celebrated in style at Thornton Manor in Thornton Hough. The Victorian Christmas themed gala was held on the last sequential date for 90 years.
The evening raised over £26,000 to help sustain the hospice’s services for the local community. The compere was BBC Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips and also in attendance was the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, Dame Lorna Muirhead.
Victorian style musical entertainment took place alongside a raffle and auction. His Honour Judge John Roberts praised the work of the Hospice and remarked: ‘Following their last two unannounced visits, the Care Quality Commission found the Hospice complies with all the CQC standards, a rare accolade indeed, reflecting greatly on the calibre of those who run Wirral Hospice St John’s.’
